So here is the very related post on this amazing movie...

I was hesitatnt at first when seeing this. Not that I thought I would not like it but more having to do with the fact that I have never watched any of TOS, just the movies. However I forgot that this incarnation was not just meant for Trek fans but for everyone and JJ and everyone else did a hell of a job with it.

The actors played all of their characters spot on, which was a big factor in how much I absolutely loved this movie. The fact that Kirk, Bones, Spock and everyone else had their introductions was perfect. Noone had to question who anyone was.

Of course I was not expecting to almost cry in the first 10 minutes of a Star Trek film but my god. That intro had to be one of the best that I have ever seen. George Kirk was a hero, gave his life to save his crew and hos wife and son. But Jim Kirk was a rebellious kid that drove his step-dad's car off a cliff!! And got into barfights (Uhura's and his first interaction was priceless). But he still went to the academy...

I loved Spock in this movie. Spock without a doubt stole the spotlight for this movie. Vulcan had bullies and those little domes for class rooms. I loved how he turned down the Vulcan Science Academy. They deserved it, and in hindsight it was a very good thing to do.

Vulcan is gone.

Thats when I realized the movie was an Alternate Reality and the fact that JJ solved a potentially big problem in a way no one would question. I was shocked. I think everyone was when we watched Spock's home just dissapear. And his mother? My god, they knew how to hurt Trek fans.

Uhura/Spock:

I pretty sure this had everyone's collective jaws on the floor. That scene in the elevator had my eyes literally pop out of my head and my eyebrows dissapear in my hair. And yet...It worked. Really really well. The scene at the transporter while they kiss and Kirk finds out was hilarious. They are so perfect together.

I think that goes back to the actors and how much chemistry all of them had. I mean Spock and Uhura are one think but the same can be said for Kirk and Bones (who had some of the best lines in the film. Goes without saying he is Bones after all) Kirk and Spock and everyone else.

And Spock Prime (which I am guessing we are calling him) was...I have no words for him being there, becasue it was so right, so perfect. He melded with Jim, gave him everything so Jim would know how great a friend, brother Spock could, would be. And to find out that Spock was the reason for evertying tha happened was...

I know people were upset because William Shatner wasn't in it, I was to befor but...watching the movie I have to say I was glad he wasn't. I mean how could they have justified that? It wasn;t the point of the movie anyway. It was introducing the same characters we had come to love in TOS, but in an entirely new, unexplored setting. And it was done fantastically.

I can't wait for the sequels.
