Title: Moving On
Rating: G
Character:Tommy
One-Shot
Summary:Tommy thought he had moved on. That his past was just that, his past. He was wrong.

At three in the morning, few normal everyday people would even be awake, let alone fully conscious and alert; especially in an almost eerily darkened cave, for lack of a better word, that to someone unfamiliar with what it contained would be at the least anxious.
But no one ever said Dr. Tommy Oliver, paleontologist, science teacher, and mentor was normal. Well that’s not true.

To the people of Reefside, Dr. Oliver, paleontologist and science teacher, was extremely normal, overly normal in fact.

But Tommy Oliver, the one entity that the people of Reefside did not know was as far from normal as Pluto was to the Earth, perhaps even more.

No, Tommy Oliver, mentor and Power Ranger was far from normal.

Tommy sighed as he stared at the piece of machinery in his hand. Black and gold with a Velcro strap. Shaped like a dinosaur’s head, the black Brachio Morpher was just another chapter of his life; one he thought was long over.

Being a mentor to his team was one thing; when the Dino Gems bonded the way they did, he had expected it, and while he may not have liked it he had been prepared. However, being a mentor was one thing. He hadn’t wanted to have the power back; he hadn’t wanted to be a Ranger again. Not now. He was tired; he had moved on and had relished that fact.

Being a Power Ranger was the past, and it had taken him years to accept that piece of advice and move on.  And just when he had; when he had finally, finally gotten comfortable with the past being the past, the gems had bonded with his three students, throwing his plans out the window.

But all that was gone now. Another morpher, a new team, another power loss, all a part of being a Power Ranger.  It was something he had once relished, but now with the pressure of saving the world, with having people rely on him, he was tired. He would, he knew, take up the job again if he needed to, but for now he was just tired.

Tommy sighed. He looked at his morpher, then reached out and pressed at a hidden panel against the rock face. Inside only one light shown. The dim light, bright in the surrounding darkness, illuminated two things; Tommy Oliver’s White Ranger Morpher and that of his Red Zeonizers. After a second or two of hesitation, deliberation, he was not sure; he placed the Brachio Morpher next to the Zeonizers. Tommy closed the panel.

Dr. Oliver sighed.

The past was the past. Best to get over it.
